My Classroom Philosophy
I love to spark students' curiosity and creativity. I believe in creating an environment that advocates for eager student learning, confidence and growth through discovery. Our classroom is filled with hands on learning to encourage, motivate and stimulate inquisitiveness. I look to encourage wisps of sparkling curiosity all the while providing a positive learning environment for academic growth.
About the Teacher:
Hello! My name is Jamie Zapien. I will be your student's second grade teacher this year. I am thrilled to get to know everyone as the school year commences. My husband and I relocated to Castle Rock in 2013 with our two daughters, Isabella (17) and Adriana (14). We moved from southern Colorado. In the summer I love to spend my time camping, fishing and four-wheeling. You can find me wrapped up in a book and drinking lattes when the weather turns dreary. My family and I have a Great Dane, Iroh. He loves to go on adventures and explore the world with us. We also have a Golden Retriever. Her name is Pepperjack & is still quite the puppy!
Education:
I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies K-8 at Western Governors University in the Spring of 2021. This is my fourth year teaching and my sixth year at Flagstone Elementary!
I will be starting my Master’s program, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education, this Fall of ‘24. I have always found myself working to fulfill student’s potential through encouraging healthy and positive growth mindsets. I advocate for student growth by encouraging critical thinking, pushing creative boundaries, collaborating with peers and providing a positive learning environment.
